If a death occurs at a hospital under an emergency or non-emergency situation the hospital will ask for the funeral home contact information. Also the local organ and tissue donation bank is notified, this is federal law that they are notified. They have to ability to hold a person for up to 24 hours while trying to contact their next of kin for possible donation. Please do not ignore their calls, let them know as soon as possible whether you would like your loved one to donate or not. Once a release is obtained from the hospital we will pick up your loved one and bring them back to the funeral home. One of our funeral directors will reach out to the family to begin discussing arrangements, if the death occurs over night the director usually waits until the following morning to reach out to give the family some time to try and rest.
